What is RF Microneedling for Hair Restoration?
RF Microneedling and Exosome therapy are innovative treatments designed to address hair loss by stimulating hair follicles and promoting regrowth. Potenza, the RF microneedling device, employs a technique that combines radiofrequency (RF) energy with microneedles. These microneedles create tiny punctures in the skin, and the RF energy delivers heat to the deeper layers of the dermis. This process triggers the skin's natural healing response, promoting collagen production and skin regeneration.
Exosomes are a key component in this treatment. They are derived from stem cells and contain a potent mixture of growth factors. Exosomes are exceptionally powerful, with concentrations of regenerative elements up to 100 times more than Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). These growth factors include collagen, enzymes, and proteins that stimulate new hair follicles and enhance hair fullness.
How does it work?
Potenza's reverse suction technique ensures even coverage of the exosome solution. By creating micro-injuries in the skin, RF microneedling initiates a healing response, and the reverse suction pushes the exosome solution deeper into the dermis. This enhances the effectiveness of the treatment, as the regenerative potential of exosomes is delivered directly to the targeted areas.
Exosome therapy works by encouraging the rebuilding and repair of damaged hair follicles. It does this without the need for surgery or hormones. The therapy stimulates hair follicles in the resting phase (Telogen) to enter the growth phase (Anagen) and prolongs this growth phase. This results in increased follicle numbers and improved health and strength of existing follicles.
Combining exosome therapy with RF microneedling amplifies the results. The micro-injuries created by microneedles enhance the absorption of exosomes, optimizing their regenerative effects. This combination supports hair restoration by promoting growth, improving hair quality, reducing shedding, and normalizing scalp conditions.

Stages of Hair Growth
There are 4 stages of the hair growth cycle: Anagen, Catagen, Telogen, and Exogen.
90% of our hair is in the Antagen phase (growth phase). This lasts 2-6 years.
10% of our hair is in the Catagen and Telogen stages.
The Catagen stage is the transition stage that lasts around 10 days.
The Telogen phase is the resting stage (lasts 3 months) before it falls out (the Exogen stage).
How Common is Hair Loss?
Men: 20% experience hair loss by the age of 20 and up to 50% by age 50.
Women: 3-12% by age of 30-40, and up to 30% by the age of 50.

Every patient is different however, you can expect to see results within 3-6 treatments.

To start, you and Dr. Brandish will develop an individualized treatment plan to determine if RF Microneedling is the best tool for the desired result.
At the session, topical numbing cream will be applied and will sit on the skin for about an hour before the procedure. We will then clean the skin and proceed with the treatment. Once the machine is calibrated and prepared, the needle tip handpiece is used to go over the desired area of treatment and deliver the radiofrequency (RF) energy to deeper tissues. There may be a sensation of warmth as the RF energy heats these underlying tissue regions where collagen will be stimulated and the procedure should be relatively mild in discomfort.
There is very little downtime with this procedure! Many patients receive treatment and go about their day. There is usually minimal redness or swelling, and the skin should return to normal over the next few hours to a day.
Adherence to Dr. Brandish’s aftercare recommendations will ensure maximum benefit from this procedure.

Redness is common right after the treatment up to 2-3 days post-treatment. Swelling and minimal bruising may occur.
