Fillers: The Timeless Solution for Every Age

Fillers have been a cornerstone of dermatological enhancement for decades, continually refining to address specific areas and concerns. Did you know that different fillers serve distinct purposes? Selecting the ideal filler for each individual requires a discerning eye, coupled with an in-depth understanding of vascular systems, bone structure, and muscle dynamics. Moreover, tailoring filler treatments to suit the patient's age is paramount. In this blog post, we'll delve into fillers and their appropriateness across every decade of life.

20’s-30’s: Enhancing Natural Beauty

Around age 25, collagen production begins to decline, leading to a loss of plumpness in the skin- Collagen plays a crucial role in filling fine lines and providing facial structure. While significant collagen loss isn't a huge issue in your twenties, this period is perfect for enhancing facial contours and discovering preventative treatments. Common treatments include Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based fillers for the lips and cheeks, imparting subtle enhancements to your natural beauty. Some individuals may have deeper-set eye sockets, contributing to dark circles and under-eye volume loss, which can be effectively addressed with strategic Hylauronic Acid Filler placement. Additionally, our internal skin hydrator, SkinVive, offers a radiant glow and smoothness to the skin without adding volume which is a great treatment for someone in their twenties or thirties.

30’s-40’s: Maintaining Youthful Vitality

Entering your mid to late thirties, the effects of collagen loss, gravity, and sun damage may become more noticeable. This phase calls for enhancing natural features while introducing structural support to areas showing signs of volume loss. Juvederm Voluma, with its larger molecule size, is ideal for adding volume to the cheeks, chin, and jawline, creating the coveted heart-shaped face. Voluma can reverse volume loss, and define the face shape. Additionally, SkinVive can be used to revitalize the skin with hydration and has become a versatile tool for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles in the cheeks, around the mouth, and even around the eyes.

40’s-50’s: Embracing Collagen Stimulation

While this decade may feel like aging on a fast track, there are several Bio-stimulants that offer a natural way of stimulating your collagen production. In your forties and fifties, there are more rapid changes in facial volume loss, symmetry, and skin laxity, particularly for premenopausal women. Bio-stimulants like Radiesse, Bellafill, and Sculptra, effectively replenish lost volume and maintain a youthful appearance. These Fillers ensure longer-lasting results, providing around-the-clock collagen stimulation.

50’s-60’s and Beyond: Defining Timeless Beauty

After age fifty, significant bone loss can occur, necessitating Hyaluronic Acid Fillers that add structure and contour to restore vitality and structure to the face. Common concerns include chin recession, cheekbone loss, loss of jawline profile, and under-eye hollowing, all of which can be effectively addressed with Filler treatments. These fillers should be strategically placed to mimic our natural bone structure- This placement will yield transformative results, enhancing facial contours and revitalizing one's appearance.

Filler offers a versatile and age-appropriate solution for enhancing natural beauty and addressing age-related concerns across every stage of life. With the guidance of Dr. Brandish's expertise and tailored treatment plans, individuals can embrace their evolving beauty with confidence and grace while ensuring natural results.

Do you know the rejuvenated feeling you get after an amazing facial? Imagine that feeling lasting up to six months as opposed to just a few days. In the dynamic world of Cosmetic Dermatology, staying ahead of the curve means embracing new products designed to meet evolving needs. Juvederm recently unveiled its latest creation: SkinVive, a groundbreaking Hyaluronic Acid (HA) product that promises to revolutionize skincare routines for anyone and everyone. Let's dive into how SkinVive works and what to expect throughout your treatment journey.

Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies renowned for its multifaceted benefits. HA's ability to attract and retain water is unparalleled, from safeguarding our joints to moisturizing our skin. Unlike traditional HA fillers, SkinVive doesn't add volume to treated areas. Instead, it strategically infuses the skin with hydration, resulting in a radiant glow and natural plumpness reminiscent of a rejuvenating facial. What sets SkinVive apart is its longevity—this internal hydrator promises to keep you glowing for an impressive six months.

During your initial visit, Dr. Brandish will map out the injection sites, ensuring precise placement for optimal results. SkinVive is typically placed in the cheek area however, Dr. Brandish loves using it as a line eraser around the mouth area, eyes, and more. This 15-minute rejuvenating treatment is a total breeze and is perfect for incorporating alongside every other Botox session.

While SkinVive is minimally invasive, it involves small injections of Hyaluronic Acid under the skin with an ultra-fine needle, similar to a Botox needle. With any cosmetic treatment, a few precautions can optimize your experience, such as avoiding alcohol the night before or medication such as ibuprofen, to help minimize the risk of bruising. That said, most patients do not experience any downtime with SkinVive treatments.

In the days following your treatment, anticipate a gradual transformation in your skin's appearance- Enhanced hydration will lend a newfound suppleness to your cheeks, while fine lines fade, leaving behind a smoother, more radiant complexion. The results are impactful, leaving you with a refreshed, youthful look that speaks volumes. SkinVive is a truly transformative enhancement that promises glow and smoothness that lasts!

Botox & Filler: The Ultimate Dynamic Duo

Botox and Filler are the ultimate dynamic duo in the world of aesthetics. They both do very different things however, when used in conjunction, they work together to give us a smoother, lifted, younger complexion. We are here to answer some common questions about what Botox and Filler do, how they are different, and how they seamlessly work together to correct aging in the face.

Botox is used for various cosmetic treatments due to its powerful effect on smoothing facial wrinkles and lines. The active component in Botox is Botulinum Toxin, Type A, which is a neurotoxin that relaxes the muscles responsible for creating wrinkles- When the muscle is relaxed, it prevents wrinkles from forming and softens lines in the skin. There are so many different areas of the face where Botox is used to smooth lines and wrinkles such as the forehead, crow's feet, under-eye wrinkles, corners of the mouth, chin, marionette lines and so much more. Botox can also help with TMJ, migraines, and contouring in areas of the body such as the calf and trapezius muscles.

Unlike Botox, Filler does not aid in muscle relaxation. Filler is used to add volume to the face, contour, and stimulate collagen. The main component in Fillers is Hyaluronic Acid which plumps and hydrates the skin. Filler is commonly used in areas on the face where we need to add volume to achieve a contoured, lifted look- these areas include the cheeks, jawline, temples, nasolabial folds, chin, lips, and more! Filler can soften more severe folds in the face that occur due to skin laxity and loss of volume.

Besides their scientific makeup and what they are used for, Botox and Filler also differ in longevity. Botox typically lasts three to four months while Filler can last anywhere from one to five years. Receiving Botox treatments three to four times per year will ensure that muscle movements in the face do not form lines and wrinkles. Filler treatments are recommended every one to five years to maintain volume and collagen production as we age. When Botox and Filler are administered at the same time, they work to increase the longevity of the other.

Botox and Filler are completely different anti-aging cosmetic treatments because they have different scientific makeup, address separate concerns, and have different longevity. As we age, it is important to use Botox and Filler together to simultaneously address multiple areas of the face at once. Combining Botox and Filler treatments will result in a non-surgical facelift that will provide a refreshed, youthful, and natural look.

Are Dermal Fillers Toxic?

Dr. Brandish, an expert injector with over 20 years of experience, weighs in on the negativity and myths surrounding Dermal Fillers.

We have noticed a lot of negativity surrounding Dermal Fillers lately; Several posts, videos, and podcasts circulating the internet and social media have significantly downplayed Dermal Fillers and their benefits. This has led to questions such as, Are Fillers toxic? What are the benefits? Is Filler worth the investment?

Expert injector Dr. Brandish is here to answer your questions- After over 20 years of specializing in nonsurgical facelifts, she wants to assure you that Filler is one of the most successful and safest options for treating an aging face.

Are Fillers toxic?

Fillers are not toxic. Most Dermal Fillers are made of Hyaluronic Acid which naturally occurs within our body! The purpose of Hyaluronic Acid in the body is to retain moisture in the skin and protect our joints. It also plays a crucial role in wound healing by controlling inflammation and redirecting blood flow to damaged tissue. When Hyaluronic Acid Fillers are injected under the skin, our body recognizes them as a naturally occurring substance allowing the Filler to blend safely and effortlessly under the skin.

What are the benefits of Filler treatments?

After age 20, our collagen production significantly decreases. The older we get, we also experience compounding facial fat and bone loss- This is why we notice sagging, deep wrinkles, and volume loss in the face. Filler addresses all of these issues by adding natural volume and lift. Filler also stimulates collagen and hydrates the skin which is crucial in defying gravity and slowing the aging process.

Are Fillers worth the investment?

With advancements in technology, Filler can last anywhere from 2-5 years! When you initially receive Fillers, there may be some mild swelling or bruising for a few days otherwise, there is no downtime and you can get back to life as normal immediately after treatment. When patients opt for a surgical facelift, not only are they making more of a monetary investment but many patients experience weeks of downtime and healing that can be painful and a hindrance to everyday life. When Filler is administered by a skilled physician, you not only look younger but you feel confident and beautiful- that is priceless!

Whether you have received Filler in the past or are interested in exploring this option in the future, we want to make sure that you can make the most educated decision and do what is best for you on your aging journey!
